National Chemical and Refining
Depew, New York
The National Chemical and Refining facility at Depew is one of the Lackawanna Terminal's biggest customers. This large, sprawling plant can easily accomodate two crews (occasionally three), around-the-clock. Making the crews' lives even harder is the fact that the main line essentially divides the complex in two. The plant receives raw materials by tank car and covered hopper (as well as packaging material by boxcar), and ships complete products by boxcar or in bulk by tank car.

Above is a scene of part of the chemical plant. This view shows the future offices (the Masonite mockup), mockups of the bulk storage tanks, and several of the sidings (including the very distinctive dual-curved sidings adjacent to the office). The Lackawanna Terminal main line is in the foreground (the lighter colored roadbed).
