Most of the photos in this section were taken at "The Curve," a popular railfanning location on the Lackawanna Terminal, just west of the entrance to the Corning Yards. It's a popular location as all trains funnel in and out of the yard at this location, and activity is heavy.

CABOOSES:

The LT relies primarily on a fleet of extended vision cabooses. The fleet is a mixture of former Reading hacks, and some home built cabooses built at the LT's Scranton Shops. The cabooses are in the 400-419 series.

They wear two schemes. Initially, the cabooses built in the Scranton shops wore the same maroon/yellow/gray scheme as the diesel fleet. With the purchase of three ex-Reading hacks, the shop forces painted the cabooses in the new  "simplified scheme" eliminating the gray stripe from the center of the carbody.

BOXCARS:

Series 34100-34199

50' single door "Railbox" style cars. Used in general revenue service for all on-line LT customers. Another photo of a Railbox boxcar restenciled LT 43102.  This picture was taken from "the grassy slope" just west of Corning, NY as the car is on it's way to the Stradivarius Steel Company in Corning.
